Workshop: Spatial & Temporal Relations in LFG

Abstracts are solicited for 30-minute presentations (followed by 15-minute discussion periods) addressing syntactic, semantic, morphological and implementational issues pertaining to the treatment of spatial and temporal relations within the formal architecture of Lexical-Functional Grammar as well as in typological, formal, and computational work within the ‘spirit of LFG’ as a lexicalist approach to language employing a parallel, constraint-based framework. All semantic theories are welcome. We are particularly interested in presentations that integrate either the classic co-description approach or the f-structure rewrite/transfer approach recently pioneered by Crouch et al. in the form of Abstract Knowledge Representation (AKR).

This one-day thematic workshop will immediately follow the spring ParGram/ParSem meeting to be held at the Institute of English and American Studies, University of Debrecen, Hungary (March 28th – March 31st).

eXLEpse editor website

We have now set up a website containing information about the eXLEpse editor for XLE grammars presented at the ParGram meeting in October. The website contains a short description of the editor, documentation files in English and German, and download links for different operating systems. The website is located at:

First call for LFG2011 conference

The first call for the 16th International Lexical Functional Grammar Conference (LFG2011) is out.
It will be published on the conference website. The conference will be held at the University of Hong Kong.

Spring 2011 ParGram/ParSem Meeting

The spring 2011 ParGram/ParSem meeting will be in Debrecen, Hungary. It will be organized by Tibor Laczko and the HunGram project team. Dates are still to be determined but are likely to be in late March.

This meeting will be held in tandem with a one-day LFG workshop. Details TBD.

LFG 2010 updated program

An updated program for LFG 2010 at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada is available. Registration is open on the LFG 2010 website, which also contains information about accommodation, activities, etc. The preregistration deadline is May 15, 2010.

New book on grammar theory

Stefan Müller has published a new book on grammar theory with a chapter on LFG. The book is also freely downloadable.

Two vacancies at Bergen for LFG-related PhD projects

The University of Bergen announces two PhD level positions in the CLARA project. The vacancies are for people in an early stage of their research careers and imply mobility. Successful candidates have a good background in LFG. The deadline is 18 April 2010.
